From the Introduction: Ages and ages ago, long before I had gray hair and a gray beard, I was a skinny little kid and went to elementary school. I believe that I was a lucky little kid, because I liked school a lot. I liked my teachers, I liked books, I liked learning things, and I liked most of my classmates, most of the time. The only things I didn't particularly like about school were homework and the lunches they served in the cafeteria. I've met a lot of kids who have told me that they have the same opinion about homework and school lunches.
Even though I didn't like homework, I (almost) always did it, and I'm glad I did. If I hadn't done my homework, I might not know all the things I know now, and I might not have learned enough to be able to write my poems. As for the school lunches...
I hope that the poems in this little anthology convey the same sense of fun and excitement about school that I felt and continue to feel. Also, I hope that you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed collecting them.
