Before his writing and illustrating career, he wasalready an established anthropologist, graduating from Columbia in1937.^(1911–73). Russian-born artist Nicolas Mordvinoff receivedthe Caldecott Medal in 1952 for his illustrations to FindersKeepers, a story of two dogs trying to decide which should get afound bone.
